No attic in house

The funny thing is we currently have an FHA loan on our house and when it was appraised when we bought it the attic issue never came up. So how does it come up now when we are trying to sell it?

Since I have not seen your house, I cannot judge whether it not it has a space that should be called an attic, but from your description it sure sounds like it does not have an attic.

The simple answer to your question is that one of the appraisers is a complete idiot. I will let you figure out which one.

My favorite FHA appraisals are pueblo style houses on slabs. No attic, no crawl space. As far as why now, many appraisers are being much more careful these days. As it should be.

Thanks for all the great info. Just visiting with neighbors around us that have similar houses. They just laughed when I asked them where their attic was. We weren't their during the appraisal so maybe the appraiser just wasn't for sure if their was an access to some sort of attic. Who knows?

An attic is not necessary for an FHA loan. The report should have noted, "No Attic." There are millions of flat roofed houses and they are eligible for FHA.
