Ive been looking at many listings on multi-units and many of them dont have the sqftg listed, ive checked county records and all the sources that i have... is the best way to find out to ask the agent?? i have done that and many times they dont know either, so is it wrong to estimate the sqft, based on units and bedroom count and the rent?? thanks

call and/or visit the tax appraisal district office.

Or just go see the owner/manager and ask if they mind you measuring the buildings for comp data. Have to do that on churches in GA. They do not pay taxes, so no tax card. ;)

Or maybe do your analysis based on room count, not SqFt.

Joe...are you sure your assessor's office doesn't have that data? You don't say where you are but most counties have to have some method of determining the assessment and need the measurements and square footage data. Call you assessor and talk to a technician.

If you're in a metro area, there is probably an "Apartment" magazine in the racks in the supermarket entrances or bank lobbies. These often have s/f for each unit type. Also, try www.apartment.com (or something very close) which often has floorplans of apartment types in the larger complexes.

Kevin,
 That is a great idea!!! :rainfro:
I'll store that one in the back of my mind :)
Now if only I could find those childhood memories... where did I put them. <_<
