Completing a non-lender estate appraisal. Received a request to make the Effective Date for the date of Death. Completed research on this, but still curious as to why this is requested?? Assuming by the IRS or Attorney involved with the Estate..

Please note-no Rude or Crude comments.. just trying to obtain an understanding of this request.

It is most likely for probate court to probate the decedent's estate.

They want a Date of Death value. Could be to settle estate, or deal with heirs' concerns, property tax resolution, or IRS or....

You didn't ask client what the purpose of the report?
If for tax purposes, I indicate that in the report.
