North Carolina appraisers, please consider joining YOUR new association. We have many irons in the fire including new AMC legislation. We have three new chapters (Triad, Cape Fear, Asheville) and 3-4 pending chapters (Charlotte, Triangle, Foothills, Crystal Coast) to be considered at the next Board meeting. Watch our temporary website for news and meeting dates and locations:

Be careful.

It always important to "Check" out an organization before just blindly joining. I urge any one interested to check and see if we are a registered organization with the State of North Carolina. I also urge you to recognize that appraisers need a legislative voice in order further our profession. Check out our Temporary site mentioned above and feel free to contact me directly to learn more about our legislative agenda.

Can a leopard change his spots? I believe they can ...not too sure about appraisers.

Peter J. Gallo A5849 (Charlotte)

By consent, the Board suspended Mr. Gallo’s residential certification for a period
of one month. Mr. Gallo also agrees to complete a course in sales comparison, a
course in appraising manufactured or factory built housing and the 15 hour National
USPAP course. If he fails to complete the courses, he will be suspended for an additional
eleven months. The Board alleged that Mr. Gallo appraised a property located
in Charlotte, North Carolina in May 2005, finding an appraised value of $115,000.
For comparable sales, Mr. Gallo selected three stick built properties and two manufactured/modular homes from other areas. He made negative adjustments to his
comparable sales for the differences. Although Mr. Gallo signed a certification that
he had inspected the exterior of his comparable sales, he did not do so.

I don't understand why Bob Ipock continues to drive a wedge between appraisers instead of helping to lead us coming together. He seems to only focus on the negative and is constantly pointing out the mistakes of others. Although most of us understand that no one is perfect, however Bob seems to be constantly putting others down as if he is perfect.

I have known Mr. Gallo for many years and have found him a person of integrity and passionate about helping our profession move forward. Mr. Gallo moved here from Buffalo New York, where there were no standards or an appraisal board to correct the issues. His big mistake was not driving by the comps and it was his integrity that lead to his disciplinary action. When asked did you drive by the comps, he told the truth. It would have been impossible for the Appraisal Board to prove this point, however Mr. Gallo was more concerned with being honest and maintaining his integrity.
In my book, actions speak louder than words and those of you that know Peter are well aware of his actions on behalf of appraisers. What has Bob Ipock done other than drive a wedge between appraisers?

There are two types of appraisers, varying in degrees. Those that sit on the sideline, complaining and moaning. And those that actually promote the positives in our profession and try to create a unified voice for our own betterment.

I have known Mr Gallo for several years. I've seen what he's done, almost entirely at his own expense. His and Dave's goal is ambitious, challenging and not without substantial sacrifice of time and monies.

I recommend to anyone, spend some time on the website, call Pete or Dave, attend a meeting, make up your own mind. I know you will be much more informed than just sitting on the sideline.

Eddie, please elaborate on how this org is different than NCPAC, or is it the same old with a new set of titular heads?

I am not a spokesman for NCREAA, sorry that wasn't pointed out. I only recommend that you research and make up your own mind. Let them answer that question.

I hope that you will agree that appraisers are a scattered bunch, each trying to protect their ground but face a well organized and funded opposition.

Any group be it, NCAI, NCPAC, NCREAA that can inform us and give voice to the powers that affect our profession should be considered.

Information and voice is the key. The AF here does a good job on the information aspect but cannot provide a voice

Call me an SOB, a cheat a liar...whatever you want. The bottom line is some folks should not be in a place of leadership and certainly not holding other peoples money.

Take 15 minutes to read the case from front to back. The judge
does not appear find any honesty, character or leadership traits.

If you don't care to read this Federal Bankruptcy case then your comments are ill informed.

At it's beginning, NCPAC was a good advocate for appraisers. Over time, through internal politics, it changed into what it is now. NCREAA appears to be a legitimate attempt by some good people to do what NCPAC has decided not to do....that is lobby for the best interests of NC appraisers. What the NCREAA will become down the road, no one can predict.
