What is the easiest and quickest state to obtain a trainee license. My kid wants to get into the business and I plan on retiring ideally south. Any states where it is just some paperwork to get a license? Not concerned about the hours to become an appraiser after. We got time.

So you/your kid will move to just any state JUST because it may be easier to get the initial paperwork done? That seems about the same as moving somewhere because the taxes on gas are a little less...

Just wait a few years--they'll be handing out licenses after a 20 minute PAREA presentation on an IMAX near you.

I believe there are minimal requirements in Arkansas and maybe even less in Oklahoma. Basically you take about 70 or more hours to get state registered (trainee) in Arkansas. A trainee must have a supervisor and that supervisor and trainee must take 4 hour class to do so. Much the same in OK where the board is not independent but run under the insurance commissioner. I think most states will require education before they allow you to apply or get credit.

If I remember correctly, in Pennsylvania, it's just 75 hrs of coursework (30 hr principals, 30 hours procedures, 15 hours USPAP) and an application. I guess I mistakenly thought states were pretty uniform on this.

Would also have to complete the 4-hour trainee/supervisor class.

Here's the lowest....IQs by State,

Calif ranks 48 out of 50. But hey, we're part of the oh-so-enlightened coastal elite who thinks we have the moral superiority it takes to talk down to Middle America so we've got that going for us.

With a large percentage of Californians having migrated from Middle America, it would be former Middle Americans talking down to current Middle Americans. :)

Getting a trainee license is easy in every state, especially those that don't issue licenses for trainees. Becoming certified is a completely different story.

Agreed but was looking for minimal to no effort/time that provides a trainee license. I do the inspections for the bifurcated appraisals and is a requirement to be a trainee or cerified. Those inspections can be used for trainee hours. So I want to get him those hours and learn the measuring skills. That is the hardest to master at this point with technology growing to help with the comps/value side.

It is a good tool for trainees when it comes to measuring many different styles multiple times a week and likely many others do the same.
