Ever wish you could scan something in and have your computer read the text and convert it to a document that you could edit? I had some OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software that I re-installed last night to find it wont run under Windows 2000.

I started searching on the web for a Shareware replacement that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I found Simple OCR listed as free ware. I downloaded and tried it and it worked great. I know other Appraisers would find this useful so I thought I would post the link.

BTW if you have never used one they are not perfect! They will misread word and things like "(" parentheses marks mess them up. So you will have some typos to fix but it sure beats typing in a big document from scratch!! Besides its free. Who can complain?

Sounds like a deal, but I have had good luck with Paperport and it edits photos pretty well too. I went to XP and still 98 on my old machine, I never did have luck with 2000 ME
