Amazon, Wally World, Target, etc. virtue signal higher wages they pay, but the reality they do it to pressure the small fry who cannot spend that kind of money because they do not operate on the scale of the big box who can shave pennies to make money while the Mom & Pop need those pennies. Sam Walton aggressively lobbied the Arkansas ledge after realizing Sears and other small fry were trying to get laws passed limiting the size of buildings, etc. that would hurt Wally. Then he went in each state doing the same. So who survived? Walmart or Sears?

All our Sears stores closed. If i shop WM, it is the neighborhood grocery which I've not been in for more than 3 years, and otherwise, any place I have to self-check out, I'll just order online...from Amazon, Harbor Freight, etc. The only stores I've been in for the last six months are a local grocery, an Atwoods and Tractor Supply (both are farm stores) and can't think of another except the gun stores - Bass Pro Cabelas and Academy...
