Online USPAP - Anyone taken it in the past few months?

Weird, when I've taken their course you can print chapter button, then I copy and paste each chapter into a WORD file. This is helpful, because you can use the FIND feature in WORD and find specific topics in the chapter.
No more. On Nov 8th, I initially reported that I was unable to print any of the course materials.

They answered back quickly that the USPAP manual was posted under documents (top right) and could be downloaded and printed.

Tried that and still couldn't print. Reported that the course pages wouldn't print (print screen ignored, print button ignored) and after downloading USPAP, it also wouldn't print.

I sent another email to McKissock.

They answered that that The Appraisal Foundation had new rules and NOTHING could be printed out until successful completion of the course.

I sent another email, stating that it made no sense that the manual would be withheld until the successful completion of the course.

They answered back that three other McKissock employees were consulted and yes, that's the new rule.

On Monday, I emailed JoEllen Alberts, Engagement Coordinator, The Appraisal Foundation to confirm that this was the new policy. Ms. Alberts answered back the next day, and said she'd check into it.

I emailed her today and received an out of office response.

I bought McKissock's unlimited course annual pass and wanted to complete USPAP since it wouldn't cost me anything. But at this point, I've located another provider who has assured me in writing that I will be able to print out the course material as the course progresses. This is how it has always been and how it should be. I'd rather pay $150 and take USPAP with course materials in front of me than attempt to photograph - print out and then highlight the important passages.

you don't have a print screen program, hint hint? seemed to help with any test question i couldn't remember the answer, since they gave you the correct one at the end of the quiz, which you then had to retake if too many wrong.

And yet, some people fail.
Then fail and fail, again.

All this nonsense.

Take it in person. My favorite part of CE is the USPAP update class. Give me in person or give me death.

This was my motto....then I took USPAP on Zoom....it's a live class. No driving on the freeway, no packing a lunch, it was awesome.

It's best to have USPAP book in front of you on that course. I took it virtual with the book. It was not bad at all. I don't even think I printed anything. Took a few notes. Literally have to sit in front of camera and participate a little if you want. You get breaks and go get a cup of coffee and donut or whatever. They watch you on camera and know if your there.

I would actually rather take it like you did to be honest.

TN requires 14 out of 28 hrs be virtual. (political reasons). TN also has some of the highest renewal license fees. I think I just paid $405 to renew my license. That's ******* absurd.

I think there was another fee on there also. I want to say it was $425 total. I'll worry about that later.

I learn more and remember more from the online courses. I will have to say, some of their questions are a joke. The last in-person USPAP was fun, I got to see my fellow appraisers, but I didn't learn anything.

So I completed the 2022-2023 USPAP course without course manual or USPAP book.

Around 30% of the course is narrated by a skinny cartoon man. Lots of other cartoon appraisers, lenders, and clients.

Highly annoying. The course itself, along with the inability to print. Scribbled 16 pages of notes.

The last third of the course involves searching online USPAP/Manual for answers to five or six case studies. I have PDFs of various books, including The Appraisal of Real Estate, 14th Edition and the Dictionary of Real Estate Appraisal, 6th Edition. Both are easy to navigate and search. The online USPAP/Manual provided with the course was not. Gave up trying to look up anything after about two minutes and decided to wing it.

This course requires you to complete each chapter, then redo the chapter so even if you miss a few questions you'll pass. Final exam is 20 questions; took me 4 minutes and got 100%. Total time in course around four hours.

I can't wait to take it next year. :cautious:

Why would you want to print the material? What am I missing?
