Wayne:

Over the last few days, I've noticed it takes forever when I click on a new forum for the page to download. At the bottom of the page, it seems to get "stuck" on the part that says "pagead2.googlesyndication.com". I assume my computer is being slow waiting for the ads to appear. Do you know what would cause this and how I can fix it? I'm starting to notice it on other websites I go to also.

Thanks!

Hi,

It is not something that is appraisersforum.com specific as each page loads almost instantly for me.

Ideas:

It could be your virus scanner scanning the links in the ads prior to allowing them to be loaded.

Please tell me:

What version of window you use?
What firewall you use?
What virus program you use?
Any other "security" type programs you have loaded?

Yeah, I figured it was just me. Darn it!

I use:

Windows XP
IE 6
AVG 8.0
My firewall is provided by my ISP, Comcast

I ran Disk Cleanup, ran Registry Patrol (that didn't seem to do anything), and tried Full Speed (which didn't help at all either).

I started noticing the slowdown about a week or 2 ago here at appraisersforum, and over the weekend it seems to have spread to almost every website I visit waiting for ads to load. I changed my internet temporary disk space to 14 megs, but that didn't help either.

I just can't figure it out.

In AVG 8 disable the "link scanner" and see if there is an improvement.

That didn't do anything either. I just downloaded Firefox and it loads the pages superfast!!! Obviously, there's a problem with IE.

Thanks for the help Wayne. Maybe I'll stick with Firefox. LOL!!

If you're using IE 6 then you might try IE 7, which has been out a long time.

Firefox or Seamonkey are great also.

Clean out your temporary internet files folder.

Clean out your temporary internet files folder.

Thanks, Tom. I tried that first. LOL. I've been trying out Firefox today and love how quick it is, but my MLS system won't run on it. Dammit!

I'll try IE7 I guess.

Update: I downloaded IE7 and it's much better. Thanks Wayne!!!!

Newer update to my problem:

IE7 started slowing way down today so I did a search and found on Microsoft's website the advice to go to my Internet Options and uncheck Enable third-party browser extensions. After doing that, IE7 is running fast again!! Weird computers.
