I'm a trainee appraiser going for the certified license, and I'm getting ready to apply for the PAREA program, in which one can complete their trainee hours virtually. I'm trying to find out what type of software package(s) will be needed, or whether that would be included in the program as well.

Did anyone complete their practical hours thru the PAREA? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there's anyone here who has completed the PAREA program. Mostly old dogs here who went the traditional route with a mentor and thousands of hours of logs.

You will be the tip of the sword!

It'll be interesting to hear how you fare acquiring your license virtually without going out into the field without a mentor.

There's several software providers out there. But to be honest, I'm not sure how the vendors are going to handle the new online appraisal forms coming out.

There's a la mode, ACI, bradford, click forms. Search those and look up the new forms from Fannie. You'll need access to the MLS, you'll need E&O insurance.

In my opinion though, you're kind of putting the cart before the horse. Go through the classes first. Going through the program should clue you in on what you're going to need..

Your biggest need and what the PAREA program should help you to acquire.... is clients. You're most likely go the AMC Route which if you just use the search function on the forum here.... you'll find them brutal to work for.

Anyways, good luck and let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately, Cindy Chance was fired, some say mysteriously.

I think it has been said that there are only a handful of appraisers that have been licensed through the program so far.

Somebody can probably answer you on this forum. You may want to look on facebook or some other forum and ask. But most likely whoever is in charge of PAREA will be your best contact.

In other words, when you sign up for it, ask them what you asked here.

How much does it cost and how long does it take you to complete it? I'm curious.

PAREA allows many to enter into the appraisal field.
I don't know how the program prepares the trainee but some things have to be learned on the field.
It took me many many years before I felt comfortable doing appraisals. And I'm continually learning what I thought I knew.
