I thought her knitted mask for COVID was pretty stylish.

LOL.

Like PAREA, it is all just theater.

Another update for appraisers who think PAREA ain't nuthin' to worry about:

“'The Appraisal Foundation (TAF) hopes to see the next generation of appraisers jumpstart their careers with the launch of multiple PAREA programs in 2023,” TAF President David Bunton said."

"The Appraisal Institute (AI) shares a similar present wish and sentiment.

“My wish would be to continue supporting opportunities for aspiring appraisers to enter this wonderful profession through programs such as the Appraisal Institute’s Education and Relief Foundation scholarships for women and minorities, the Appraiser Diversity Initiative (ADI), a partnership with AI, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the National Urban League and the Appraisal Institute’s Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (AI PAREA) program and future efforts with the goal being the faces of the appraisal profession mirroring the faces of the communities in which we work,” AI President Jody Bishop said."

"If I could have one gift under the Christmas tree that would be to have all state appraisal boards and commissions accept PAREA for 100 percent of experience credits toward appraiser credentialling,” veteran appraiser Greg Stephens said. “A second gift would be for several prospective providers to successfully complete a comprehensive PAREA program, receive approval from the AQB and make it available in the market."

In this climate, they are still pushing the fraud that is parea? What a bunch of scum bags. Complete incompetence everytime they bring in the supposed “leaders” in this profession. Some of you think the typical appraisers are bad, the “leaders” are worse.

Would Be nice for a couple working appraisers to be involved in these discussions.

I always get PAREA mixed up with PAVE. PAVE was the one in their opening mission statement to go after appraisers that use comps within the same neighborhood because it is racist.

AI is hiring! 37.5 hour work week!

I wonder how much they are paying? My mentor made about 80K off of me in two years. I wonder if the AI compensation package will be competitive ?

In a profession where it’s one horrible idea, after the other, parea might be the worst of the worst

Read the qualifications closely. How much would it take for an active SRA or MAI to leave their practice and work full time as an AI PAREA mentor? And just how many students are they expecting that they want to hire full time employee mentors?

Honestly, the job add demonstrates just how out of touch National AI is. And all of this was designed to pump out noobs for GSE work, absolutely nuts.

As I recall, one of the Big (only) provider was talking about $2K to be a PAREA 'mentor.' Or about $1 per experience hour of 'supervision.'

I wonder if there's any govt money involved?

Now it's none of my business what the AI does, but I would be curious how their membership feels about the org literally training their competition. Did the mgt ever put the issue to their members for a vote? 'Cause if I was a member I'd vote against this plan and everyone in the mgt who supported it. I wouldn't be waiting for their terms to come due, either.

I normally don't criticize appraisers for their employment decisions, but I'd make an exception in this case. You're signing on to flood the market with more heads than the demand will ever fully support. You're stabbing your peers right in their chest. And you're not even doing it in order to service your clients.

Imo the market will not be flooded with more heads because the res mortgage lending field offers such lousy income and working condition prospects now.

Even with PAREA making entry /education easier what person with any common sense wants to invest themselves and train for a field that a simple internet search shows via FB or bulletin boards comments from appraisers truthfully describing a grim future ( your own words if I recall) - wrt the prospect of low fees, reduced demand and uncertain income fluctuating with a volatile market and then kick in the intense pressure and Darwinian bid system of entrenched AMC domination - what a joke, people are not stupid and wrt minorities the condescending outreach to join a res side of the profession is being spun as a good opportunity? Dream on FF agencies -
