I time it by if I am hungry and need to get a snack from fridge. One of the high tech advantages of working from home.
My problem is, I'm either always hungry or thirsty ... :drinking:
Yes! While wearing shorts, no shoes, and a T-shirt.
ditto...well, minus the T-shirt

OP have you noticed the timeline feature in Total?

Oh, I see, now I get it. It s because time sheets can't possibly be placed in a workfile.

Yes Howard but I have come out of the stone ages. Everything is digital in my office... thus no paper work files. Alamode offers the billing side, having a timer would just boost the analysis aspect of the billing feature.

As another poster mentioned the "time line" feature. Yes, I am aware of that feature but it does not offer anything as far as tracking time in a file.

I'm sorry specifically where did I state that anything had to be done on paper. I have been preparing timesheets electroniclly for over 25 years. where have you been?

Yes Howard there are plenty. I would just like the option of tracking it in my work file.

While I am making the effort to store more information digitally, I'm not totally divorced from paper, and maintain a file folder for every appraisal. If I find tracking time is necessary, I simply note date and time in the file folder - kinda' like CAN's sketch.

There are a few options, one is just a basic excel spreadsheet template that is hen printed to pdf. Another is a onenote template also printed to pdf.

A lot of the time spent on the appraisal takes place outside of the software so I don't know how the software would track it. Most of the development takes place outside of the software. Sometimes I need to think about the problem that has to be solved for hours or sometimes days. I am not in the software but I still consider that spending time on the appraisal report.

I have a time clock app on my phone called "my work clock". Punch in/punch out. I started doing it to figure out my hourly rate and now I'm addicted. Before I even answer a work related call, I punch in. AF time not calculated.

QuickBooks used to have a separate timer program. I think it's still out there. The nice thing about it is that you pulled it up and assigned a client and billing code to whatever you were doing. It then automatically generated an invoice from that data.
