New UAD is no big deal, it's the low volume of work that will end it for me. If the current trend continues into April/May (E&O and license renewal), there's no point in dragging it out.

Wife and I are super frugal, saved all our working lives, invested well and no kids. She recently went 100% remote so it may be time to travel.

"No big deal?!?"

Hmmm .... I have been assiduously following Tom D's "Guiney Pig" UAD 3.6 Abomination updates for some time now.

I would venture a guess that you have not actually tried your hand at it yet.

Bully for you and your wife in preparing. We prepared too for the past 10 years, and we will also be ready - for retirement, Lord-Willing, by this time next year.

According to a survey, Americans say you hit 'old' at 57. As for retiring, I'll retire when I can no longer do the work.

According to MY survey ;) 100% of Americans over 57 say those who have yet to hit 50 are still "Dumbasses" (They may be right - though I suspect that the Dumbasses would skew that poll too if they could) :ROFLMAO:

My response to this line of thinking has been - for at least a decade: "I'll tell YOU when I am old!" :fencing:

Meaning if business is good and we need to learn it, we will. We've been here before. It's just going to require major change to your workflow. Everything is a learning curve and more difficult the older we get.

Admittedly, I have not ventured deep down the 3.6 rabbithole so far and was waiting for CE to dive in. Altho, like I said that may not be necessary if business continues as-is. Might just dodge that bullet all together

As this poll comes to an end, looks like 57.7% of respondents will either definitely, very likely, or likely retire when the UAD 3.6 Abomination is implemented.

The definitely not retiring is in the minority with 42.3%.

We would like to wish those in the latter category good luck.

And to those of us who are finally retiring, enjoy your new life and new freedom!  :clapping:

Idk. If it slows the pipeline stream too much, lenders will do some other form and keep the loan in-house. Fannie/Freddie won't have any loans to buy.

My AMC asked to list my fees for the coming new form Abomination. WTF!
Haven't done that abomination and want idea of what appraisers will charge.

I don't think the fees will increase at all. After completing a few, I will be able to assess for myself whether it is taking less time, the same time, or more time after the learning curve is over. If it is a struggle to make a small profit, it might be time to move on the greener pastures. But, I will give it a fair try.

So you think, most appraisers will keep same fee as before and until they actually go through the Abomination form, then they will raise their fees.

You could be right, which is why I am sticking with it for now. If it turns out fees will be the same or lower and the assignments mostly complex, I think there are better ways to earn a living. But, I am willing to see how it goes in 2026 and my tentative plan is to work the year and see if it is worth continuing about this time next year. Who knows, maybe things will self-adjust, and we will all be in a better place. I hope so, because I am in my early 50s and really like my gig.

They are trying to gather data on the data gathering form....
