pool no water safety hazard?

You can keep the negative temp figures, and anything below 50F tanjooberrymud. :leeann:

Summer gets too hot here, but we are getting into the nicer 10 months of the year now. You might want to heat the pool in winter if you plan to use it. In summer the sun will handle it for you. They're expensive to operate either way.

IMO, an in-ground pool without water is not only a safety hazard, but is contrary to its structural-design (its structural integrity is dependent on the force of the water inside the pool pushing "out" and countering the force of the dirt outside the pool pushing "in"... and the last part isn't my opinion, it is how almost all in-ground pools are designed).

If I can swim and I fall into a pool with water, I'll be all wet.
If I can swim and I fall into a pool without water, I'm probably going to suffer some injuries.
The drowning risk of a pool is assumed. The breaking-one's-neck by free-falling 8-feet and landing on a hard gunite surface is not assumed.

So,

You're saying, since nobody bounces, it should have a cover?

Yes, a sturdy one. It can be ugly, redneck engineering, as long as it is strong enough. I have no idea if there is a standard for how fat a drunk guy it has to prevent breaking through and falling in. :peace:
