Fernando able to save money to make a $80,000 at half the cost.
Use my wife's wedding dress and customized it. Last year locked in the high quality set menu (filet mignon, sea bass, Portobello mushrooms, asparagus, and more) at a good price.
Hire friends to be officiant and singer. Buy flowers from Costco.
More guests flying in from all over the US to the wedding than driving.
It should be nice.
However my son in-law's brother will marry next year to a heiress. No doubt, their wedding will be even more extravagant and expensive.
You will have fun. I wish your daughter a very happy marriage. You need to dance with her after the first dance with her husband.

you booking the wedding that far ahead probably did help on food and everything.

I can read you. Your tight. Dance with your daugher.

My wife said too many people responded that they would come to the wedding.
It will be crowded and she's under stress and she got angry with me today.
I said I know the dinner tables are filled but can I invite an appraisal friend (he was supposed to be on 2nd list if we needed more guests) to come just for the afternoon ceremony.
She exploded and said NO!
In my mind and also thinking outside the box, I can talk with my buddy appraiser (haven't seen him since Covid came about) and he can come to the ceremony, no gifts necessary.
My wife said that's not how it's done and will be an insult.
Is she overreacting?

There are always no shows. I will leave the assessment of your wife to you

No. That is her baby. It is stressful to everybody. Your getting close now.

On the other hand, you might NOT want to invite the friend unless your wife approves.

It's better to spend that money as a down payment on a house for the couple. Weddings have become money stupidness spent to impress whom. Don't know many starting young couples who have the down money and settlement cost for their first house. Might not like it at first, but they will learn how wise it was to do it. You just have to be a man about it, in your case whatever.

Did you give this boy your blessing? Is he a good boy? Is he right for your baby?

You can tell your friend to sneak in for all I care. Your wife will probably not notice him.

Tell your friend to be very inconspicuous in his appearance.

I do care about your baby.

I forgot to give my blessing when he first told me he wanted to marry my daughter. He caught me by surprise having know him for about a year.
Maybe because my Father-in-law never gave me his blessing.
Last month, I finally gave him my blessing.
There's a father/daughter dance song which mentioned I gave him my blessing. Had to do it before the wedding.

All happy married husbands know when to pick the battles with the wife.
My friend appraiser is not coming.
My wife reminds me that each guest attending costs about over $300.

The Knot found that guests spend about $160 on average for wedding gifts.

The average cost of a wedding in the United States last year came out to roughly $30,000, according to a survey of 12,000 couples across the country from wedding planning site The Knot. That’s $2,000 more than 2021, an increase The Knot attributes to inflation coupled with high demand.

Another estimate from research trade group Wedding Report puts the average wedding expenditure for 2022 at $29,195, roughly the same amount.
