Printer problems -- corrupted registry?

Several weeks ago, my Apple Laserwriter Pro 600 failed to print a large PDF file, and it won't print anything since then -- neither replacing the driver or changing USB ports has been successful.

The only way I've gotten it to print was by using System Restore, going back to a point in mid July. This makes me think something in the Registry might have gotten messed up.

Can anyone recommend a good Registry repair utility, preferably free?

Does anyone have any other ideas as to the cause of the problem?

I may go with the system restore option, but there are current files that aren't present at the restore point.

Thanks

I don't think you have a corrupted registry. I think you tried to print a file that was too big for your puter to handle and you got locked up. Check your printer stats to see if there are any pending print jobs. If so, delete them.

Delete your printer, reboot, do a reinstall, and reboot.

If these things don't work, more draconian measures are called for, but they are above my pay grade. I don't think the registry is your problem. If you are tempted to tinker with that, tread lightly.

Good luck.......

Back in the day when I was a Tech Support geek -
we would say "FDISK, FORMAT, REINSTALL"!
That fixes everything.

Charles:

As for a "registry" fixer I have used Glary Utilities and Advanced Windows Care Personal Edition sofware for several months to keep my computer humming. I have had no issues with either program. They are free and easy to use.

Glary Utilities is available at: http://www.glaryutilities.com/

Smart Defrag keeps the hard drive defraged as you work. I can't even tell it is running in the background.

Advanced Windows Care Personal Edition and Smart Defrag are available at: http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html?Str=download

Good luck,

Dave

I use RegCure and have it set up to scan once a week. It deletes junk out of my regristry that is not supposed to be there. My computer is working just fine now.
