Hi Everyone,

Is there anyone here that would be interested in writing Real Estate Appraisal Software Reviews?

I'd be very interested in paying for reviews of the following software:
alamode
narrative1
sfrep
spurams
myetrac
homeputer
aciweb

If anyone is experienced with any of the above listed sites and would like to make a little money by sharing their experience, send me a message :)

Thanks!

@ Mods, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place. I tried to follow the rules (did read them), and I didn't mention my site, or promote anything. I also tried to email a mod to ask for permission. It seems my thread is rather odd ball...

There is no shortage of opinions here. But (isn't there always one) a little clarification on what you actually want would be helpful. Most of us could comment on a single software package. Maybe two. I don't think anyone could realistically review all of those. Unless, of course, you are willing to provide the software package.

.. and the time needed to become familiar with the software
.

also put NCV in your choices

Hi Guys,

First, sorry for not having been more clear:

If you have experience with any of the software mentioned, I could use a review. You don't have to write a review for all, just one. Let me know how much you charge, what software you can review and how many words you will end up writing (approximately, I'm not super strict, just need an approximate). We can then work something out.

NCV is also fine if you can review it. I only need 4-5 reviews. I'm going to enable people to email me, so if you are interested just let me know, I'd love to get a few reviews from some of the highly experienced people on this board.

Tell us about this.
  • Who are you?
  • Are you affiliated with an appraisal software company?
  • Who owns this review site?
  • What company do you work for?
  • What's in it for you?

Thanks for the questions, I will be glad to answer them:
  • Who are you?
I'm the owner of FirstAmericanWeb. A web development company. I'm not too wild about posting my personal information on the internet (I have a family), but if you look my site up, you will know who I am. Or you could contact me and I will be glad to disclose it. I did so for signing up to this site. I am a US citizen, and I have 10 years experience in creating websites to then sell advertising on.
  • Are you affiliated with an appraisal software company?
No
  • Who owns this review site?
I do.
  • What company do you work for?
I don't, I own my own.
  • What's in it for you?
Information has value. I like to develop high quality information in niches where there is a lack of proper information for potential buyers. I particularly focus on the B2B market. I did some research and it seems businesses looking to purchase appraisal software have little basis to make their decisions on, except the opinions of their own appraisers which might or might not be biased. So I'm looking to create a guide to help business choose a software. I can then make money from those eye balls. Much like google provides a free service in exchange for selling advertising to the people who use their service. From the banners on this site, it seems this site is also into this same industry of providing content in exchange for selling advertising to those who consume the content.

As one of the developers, I can tell you that a review of such software is like a review of a basket of fruit.

All of the software has strengths and weaknesses.

More importantly, each appraiser is independent and does things different from other appraisers. Some software suits them and the way they do things, some does not. But that doesn't mean it isn't exactly the reverse for a different appraiser.

I was an appraiser for 23 years. 10 years in, I began writing my own software because the available software did not work the way I worked. During that time, some other companies even licensed some of my software for resale to other appraisers. Does it mean that the available software was insufficient? By no means at all...well, maybe a couple.

Nevertheless, you are honestly asking the wrong group of people to review. Appraisers make a living forming an opinion and standing by and supporting it, right or wrong. The software they use will always be "the best" because they aren't about to say "look at me, I'm an idiot and will stick with software that has far too many problems or is too difficult to use."

Most appraisers who have been in business 10 years or more have likely tried he other software packages and are familiar with them to an extent. But, no matter what, the choice of software for appraisers is like which fruit is best. I hate apples, but love pears. Some hate pears and love apples. Some like watermelon and other can't stand any melons.

If you want an unbiased opinion, find some one who is NOT in the appraisal business and have them use each software to write an appraisal report. The software cannot do an appraisal, just the report of it, so it really doesn't matter how accurate the contained opinion of value is, just see if they can create a nice looking report. Put in some addresses, create some sketches, put in photos, get maps. Test the software out and see how someone NOT vested in their software views each. WHO cares if you put words like BLAH BLAH BLAH in certain fields. See how the software handles that.

Then you would have an unbiased REVIEW of the software.

Kind Regards:

Thank you for the explanation. I have contacted you about this to follow your advice. I hope that is alright :)

I do think that even the biased reviews, with the pros and cons, will help potential buyers, or other appraisers possibly looking to switch software.

I'm not biased about my favorite appraisal software.

Care to share? I'll be glad to pay for a review, any size you can write.
