REAL ID

If I go into a federal building....
It'll be in cuffs.... :)
From a commercial appraisal standpoint, this is serious. I am sure many that travel across USA by airlines got it long ago. There are lines in Memphis wrapped around the driver's license buildings trying to get in. You can make an appointment but I went to adjoing county and met the guy that made living driving dirt cars and he could not get an appointment until like after his wife's birthday when he was flying with her to Colorado. We were there way before they opened and you could go in before they opened. We got a ticket and were there about 1 hour to 2 hours.

They opened at 8:30. My wife was like why are we here so early. I saw some people walk out and said I am going in. The line had already started and went back to get my wife. She didn't apologize but thanked me for coming and getting her. LOL

If you don't already have an appointment, they only take so many people in a day. So, if you don't have an appointment, you better get there early. My driver's license was not expired. But I may want to fly to California if I want to.

yes. I need mine to go to the next valuation expo where I can sit and be told how bad I am at my job and listen to old white men tell me how the tech bros will be taking over :rof:

REAL ID funny. I have had to go in federal buildings before for reasons related to the appraisal business. I can't really remember why but I think I have.

Before long there will be the mark of the beast. They will track you everywhere. I think this REAL ID last like 8 years. It was $28. I was expecting like $65. I don't know why. But mine was $28. My old driver's license is still in use. My old driver's license expires this year. It was 5 year term I think.

My passport is still good but I probably won't need another passport unless I hit the lottery. LOL

It's not a big deal to get... at least not in my state. I waited until my driver's license was due to be renewed anyway. Had to bring additional documentation with me. The fee was a little higher... not much at all. You do have to go to the DMV in person.

I got mine last year, it makes it easier for travel, I suppose it takes one a notch lower on the watch list before boarding. I've discovered another use, it works great for "stealth" REO exterior assignments in gated neighborhoods, you only need to tell the guard that you're on an assignment for "FHA" and point out the symbol on your license. A word of caution, this only works one time for each gate guard because they will talk about it among peers and inquire about it to their superior and when they discover what you did, they'll be waiting for you the next time.

Funny. It is not like you can't get it later. The problem may be that you have some other obstacles where they require it after May 1st. I only have paper printed copy with my passport at present. My hard copy may not be here by May1st. They say hard copy takes about 30 days more or less. I still have hard copy of my existing drivers license.

Airplanes and federal buildings only.
I can't imagine local needing it, my state has said nothing.
But better to have it when HUD calls you in about your appraisal.

You understand may commercial appraisers fly domestically frequently. They probably got there REAL ID a long time ago.
