Is anyone aware if NY and Florida have reciprocity? Family matters may require me to relocate to NY (Again).

Thanks

Thanks Ken.

I had already seen that but it was a little vague. I guess I'll just have to submit an app and see what happens. 22 years have to count for something (I hope).

No reciprocity. You'll have to apply. NY should accept your experience and education, but you'll have to pass the exam, unless you are a certified general appraiser.

I did the reverse, from NY to Florida. Florida only has mutual recognition with Georgia, Kentucky and Alabama.

No specific reciprocity with FL - some info here:

It's much easier in NY for an FL licensee than vice versa...

Hey Ken,

Although Florida does not offer reciprocity with anyone, Florida does recognize the current license status of other states and one would only need to sit for the exam(s) - there is a Florida specific test, as well as pass the rest of the application requirements.

Florida Administrative Code Chapter 61J1-3.004 Issuance of Certification

(6) Effective January 1, 2008, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation shall issue a license to an applicant without evidence of the required education and experience who:
(a) Demonstrates that the applicant is currently licensed to practice real estate appraisal with an equivalent appraisal credential under the law of another state or jurisdiction;
(b) Demonstrates that the applicant has met the minimal Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB)’s criteria for education;
(c) Demonstrates that the applicant has met the minimal Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB)’s criteria for experience;
(d) Demonstrates that the applicant has passed an Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) approved qualifying examination for that credential within 24 months of the date of application;
(e) Demonstrates successful completion of this state laws and rules exam with a passing score; and
(f) Demonstrates that the applicant has complied with subsections 61J1-3.001(1), (2), (5), (6), and (7), F.A.C.

I was told I would need to write up an experience log to be certified in FL...

Not any longer - see the new requirements for those certified in other states listed in the previous post
