Registered Appraiser Question

We have an appraiser that we supervise, he is close to having his hours to be a Registered. At any rate, he has his own business, "Andersen Enterprises" (names have been changed). This has worked well for him, and it doesn't bother us at all. He gets his own clients, and we supervise the work.

Maybe this is an idea to use?

I let all my clients know up front that I am a registered appraiser and I have a licensed appraiser review my work. Also, when I am soliciting for new clients, I let them know up front as well.
jsradcliffe,

I guess I am confused a little. In my state(NC), we have four levels of appraiser.

1. Trainee - must work under an appraiser and state must know who this is.
2. Licensed- can work alone, but if in a firm, there must be a principal
3. Certified Residential -ditto #2
4. General - no limits , but still can be in firm with a designated principal.

Principal does not mean supervisor.

ONLY Trainees must have a designated supervisor.

So, which our you?

Mike,

I've done close to 30 appraisal's. 20 of those belonged to my mentor (if you want to call him that ) and 10 of my own from my own client. He keeps saying he is going to put me on his E/O but still hasn't yet. I'm in the process of finding a new mentor because everything I've learned is by doing it on my own and in class.

He has taken me out twice to do inspections and that was it and then threw me to the wolves.

Andrew,

Being registered in the state of georgia is the same as a trainee in NC.

Your mentor is a brave laddie. I have a CR I am co-signing with and as I write this I am faxing about 10 pages of corrections on a commercial property. I haven't made her cry today....yet. Actually that is pretty average about how I butcher the appraisal.
