Anyone have or know where I can find statistics on home remodels? Looking specifically for Bay Area data but CA data could be useful.

What kind of statistics specifically?

Anything representative of recent trends-number of remodels, change from previous year, costs, etc.

I found some data on the cost/benefit for certain types of remodels that was interesting, be glad to send that along or post link if anyone is interested.

Yes, I'd like it please. Have you checked the county (ies) for permit application numbers?

Not as much interested in the County as the actual reported contractor figures-many of them don't bother with permits.

Here is the info I found re: cost/benefit of remodelings:

(trying to reduce size) or I'll email it to you if you PM with email address.

You might try the local Building Industry Association. Our local manager is an attorney I hired one time and while waiting in his office noticed lots of insider reports and magazines regarding remodeling.

Realtor Magazine does an annual survey, published in Realtor Magazine, for a wide array of remodeling projects, broken down by region. They compare cost data to actual market recapture.
