Does anyone know of a free program that you can scan text into word for editing?

Little more detail......

do you have handwritten, typed or textbook pages?

Most scanners have OCR software with the scanner...

I think even Acrobat has OCR capability.

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro in the paid version which works super good.
Since you'd like something free you could use onlineocr.net or to-text.net (didn't use them so far but they look promising)
If it's just a one time thing I would be happy to help you out with my Acrobat :-)

I use ABBYY Finereader 14.0. It is not free however it allows you to convert documents, web pages, scans, and even screen captures into editable Word, text, pdf, and Excel files. It also allows the user to tell the program which areas of a document or image is text, an image, or a table to get very accurate results. If you are working with large tables of data, it is a very accurate and useful program and well worth the $125 that I paid for it.
