I have an appraiser in the office who wants to install ACI on his home computer and start working from home. He is "okay" on computers, but overall not too computer saavy, not that familiar with the intricacies of ACI, and has never had experience with installing it and setting it up from scratch. Is there any way to copy setting from one computer to another? Basically, if his home computer does act exactly like his computer at work, he's going to be confused.

Thanks

Vivian

Vivian: You should check with ACI on this one. The license issue comes to mind. I have two ACI licensed computers in my office networked together and I have found it impossible to keep the two uses of ACI identical. I can't see how you are going to do that from afar.

How about PC Anywhere or another program that allows you to access a computer from another location?

If he has a licensed copy call tech support prior to installing. They will "walk you thru" copying info from the "old computer" and installing in the home work computer.

Im not sure how to save all your personal settings, but you will have to unregister your license on the old computer and then register it on the new one. More than likely he will be confused, so PC anywhere or gotomypc may be the way to go.

Basically, if his home computer does act exactly like his computer at work, he's going to be confused.

I think that sentence was intended to say "...if his home computer does NOT act exactly like his computer at work he is going to be confused." That makes it sound like he is going to be working both place, office and home.

A license is good for only one computer. A second license will be needed. So PCAnywhere or gotomypc is probably the way go go.

Just so you know

We have another available license. I have already called ACI to get the registration numbers so he can register at home, so I am COMPLETELY LEGAL. I feel dirty, like I've been falsely accused of stealing software. Yes, he does want the option to work at home or at the office. Our office tries to be accomodating to our appraisers like that, we are very family friendly.

Sorry for my previous reply about the license.

I know you were just trying to help. Thanks for the suggestions for the gotomypc, etc. That might be something to look into, but I think our server might be a little too old for that, but none the less, I think I'll check it out. Thanks
