I do not advocate ignoring a health & safety issue and if a person cannot get in or out of a window in the event of a fire then by all means call it out and get the window replaced. BUT then you go on to state you don't require the window to be replaced. You NOTE the issue in your report. That's fine but you were on a high horse when you stated I was advocating ignoring health and safety issues. The fact is you NOTE : the issue because you want to try to limit your liability. Nothing gets mitigated and if a fire comes through the next day the occupants you sounded so concerned about could get trapped inside. For your information and a direct quote from the head appraiser at our HOC. Health & safety issues are never grand-fathered and are to be repaired replaced or mitigated. I really don't care what your position is but for a guy who spent so much time talking about H & S in the end you really just wanted to know what the window size should be so you could cover yourself from liability.

I also asked if you were going to require all the windows to be replaced in older homes that were built under a older different or building code and you have replied no you don't. That's all I wanted to know and thank you for your thoughtful response on this issue.
