I have been hand drawing my floor plans since 1997. know we must use software so I am trying out several. I just do residential single family homes. I'm currently learning AreaSketch Pro. I can't get it to let me add interior walls. I can label the areas but, can't get it to run the walls. Isn't that still a requirement or has that changed also. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you figure out how to do floorplans, there is in fact nothing quicker or more accurate than:

As a bonus - it can actually be used for designing 3D models. Although as an appraiser, you will likely only use it for floorplans.

I have been using it (or the full Chief Architect - which is real overkill and much more expensive) for 18 years.

Cost is $595, upgrades every couple of years maybe $100 or so.

I know of no general requirement that requires interior walls and I have been appraising for 29 years. Now the new desktops require a floorplan. But the appraiser does not create it.

Apex Pro 7 is very good they recently came out with a sketcher that can be used on any platform. Rapid sketch is also good.

I use Rapid sketch. Not difficult to add interior walls, doors etc. Just takes more time.
I use it as well . Rapidsketch was bought by another company. It looks like they have a new platform that syncs your field sketch to the desktop. I may give it a try.

Apex is the way to go. Any version that you can get and that will integrate with your software will do the job. I think i'm using v 7.
