Skippy - Is it a noun, verb or adjective?

While on this important subject, there is urgent need to correctly set out the plural. Most agree there are many out there. Skippys or Skippies?

Most agree Skippy is a noun and refers to a real person. Hence Skippy is capitalized. Some use Skippies as the plural but since I abhor the nickname "Dougie" I would not support Skippies in the same way I would hate to see the world of "Dougies." So let there be Skippys in the same way there are too many Dougs on this forum, present company excepted.

I have raised the question as to the female side. This went nowhere and the discussion disintegrated into Skippette and other unmentionables. That was until Leanne reminded us that our own version of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, Bobby Bucks already provided the answer with Betty Roundheels. So we look no further than the great oracle of the Bucks Ranch.

We get pretty insular and self absorbed in this forum. Has anyone heard of "Skippy" referred to or named outside these hallowed halls?

As to other usage, the floor is open. There are obviously Skippy's appraisals but there are also skippy appraisals. Skippy determines the land value by a skippy analysis. I am hard pressed to come up with an adverb. Maybe appraisers can appraise the right way or appraise skippy but that doesn't work..... Skippily?

Doug

Doug,

What did you just say?

Skippy is a noun.

Other words in the sentence provide the actions of Skippy.

Skippy is a loser.
Skippy likes low fees.
Skippy does shotty work.

Skippy still remains a noun.....JMHO

Its just a disgusting derogatory word that some use to describe others. Incompetent is a much more accurate description of these people.

Careful PE. Isn't referring to people you don't know as incompetant considered "judging" those people? And what is incompetant? Whether or not someone is incompetant will vary from person to person. Its an opinion, a judgement.

Isn't this fun?:new_multi:

Skippy is a state of mind or lack thereof.

Skippy has a crush on Mallory, but she will not give him the time of day. To bad she didn't go on to be a MB.

Possible entries into the Skippy archive.

Skippy as a verb, probably only can exist in one or two tenses.

I got skippied---meaning an order was canceled when you got underbid or out-gunned on turnaround.

You need to skippy up this appraisal--meaning in order to get paid, you will have to flush your conscience down the toilet.

Skippy as an adjective:

He is a skippy appraiser, that is a skippy report.

As a literary point of view or movement. This report was written in the 2000's, during the skippy period.

Just a few possible derivations of the word to ponder.

By the way, did you see Mallory on Desperate Housewives over the weekend? Looking just a bit haggard, I must say.

What?

Did this post stray into the wrong thread? Continuation of which recently closed thread? Please do be a little more specific when threatening to close a thread. Thanks.
