So who, REALLY Represent us?

I've both e-mailed and sent them by snail mail. It has more to do about the question concerning the 150 shares of stock options they hold with FNC and the inherent conflict of interest and appearance of impropriety that probably resulted in my letters being 'lost'.

Not to mention why they won't approve Tim Vining's, MAI copyright course for classroom credit.

You've got to be kidding?!

Any time a member of the AI posts on the Forum, the AI is communicating with the Forum. Many members of the AI post here regularly.
And I, as many greatly appreciate it, but it will be nice to hear something from the top brass.

A good question about who or would it be whom represents the appraisers. I know who represents the Realtors because they keep me abreast of their on doings by email. I know who represents the Mortgage brokers because I read about them in the newspapers and periodicals. I did not know who represented ME(the appraiser) until I started posting here a couple months ago. I find out people on various boards that represent me are higher ups in AMC's that give out work based on who charges the least. I email my congressman, I turn over reports to my state but they could give 2 esses about my loan(no pun intended) voice because it does not resonate loud enough.I am only one. There is power in many but we can not even agree on how to reassign an appraisal(by the way I think the next thread about that would be 100 in the 4 months I have been here). So! How are we going to unite? Our arrogance is our downfall. We would cut the next appraisers throat for 20 bucks if it guaranteed us more work. The lenders pray on our independence. They now darn well we will just biatch to each other and not get anything done. If an appraiser shouted in the forest about all the problems with our profession would anyone listen. If 10000 appraisers shouted in the forest then you could not help but listen.

Who represents "us"?

By "us", does one include the large numbers of sem-competent and semi-ethical (is such possible?) appraisers who have played a significant role in the decline in the profession?

Or, does the "us" include those appraisers who are members of absolutely no professional association?

Enquiring minds want to know exactly who comprise "us".

Lee, IFA, the better question is who does the rank and file think represents them? NAIFA is pretty much non existent in NC and NC seems to be an afterthought state as far as the AI goes. Someone mentioned on another thread that licensing in general was solely to control the number of CGs that compete with the MAIs, not to control the number or quality of appraisers in general. I am currently mulling over this theory.

Maybe not all, but she speaks for alot

I think Pam has touched a nerve with many, many residential appraisers. She is *not afraid* of 'negative' publicity, ie., being sued, when she knows she is right. She hasn't just complained about being pressured-she started a data base documenting pressure, ie., 'proof'. She was able to unite many forumites who are generally at odds with each other into solidarity behind her. When encouraged to 'sit down and shut up', (I believe that is a direct quote) she stood her ground.

Respect. :clapping:
