No, neither our beta testers nor anyone else is compensated in any way for their comments. If you wonder why the betas are so confident in their endorsement, part of the reason is that they truly designed it (as with all of our other software). Our beta forum is EXTREMELY interactive. So, after it's done, they have much of the same pride of ownership that we do.

It's funny -- when someone slams us, nobody ever asks if another software company is compensating them or if they are competitive employees posing as appraisers, yet I know it's happened. (We've even traced the IP addresses back to competitors' servers and desktops.)

I was already sure the Beta testers weren't compensated, just seemed that all the reiviews before Tim's were pretty rosie and one sided. And nowhere did I ever "slam" any product. I think I was asking appropriate questions about a product before I dropped 1200 bucks on it. I'm already an Alamode customer and have had great things to say about Wintotal in the past. Don't forget, at the begining of this thread I was ready to buy the thing.

I was just looking for some honest feedback about the Pocket PC and I got it, good and bad. I have decided not to purchase it, for now anyway, but that's hardly a slam.

And no, I don't work for a competitor, I work for a staffing firm so trace away. If you're ever looking for a job, perhaps I could help you out.

Slacker, I didn't say you were slamming us at all. I don't think you were. In fact, I enjoy reading your posts in general because you seem to apply common sense and are unbiased. You asked about whether betas were compensated since their posts were positive, and I replied that they weren't. I added that we often see these suspicions when people say good things about us, which is sort of sad, since nobody ever has suspicions of someone who constantly slams us (and they are out there, as you know). They're only suspicious when someone says good things. But that's just how this market is, I guess.

And no, I don't need a job... ;-)

I have had pocket total for two years now (I think). Bought it packaged with my software. Own two (not one but two) hand held computers....Phillips Velo 500s. Have never taken them out in the field. Every month I tell myself.....I gotta do this, bought the stuff now use it. Just haven't the guts to make it happen.

If you buy it get all the stuff to make it work and then use it. Learn it, do it. Don't be like me with it just sitting there. Damn, I wish I was young enough to embrace new technology quickly. It's so hard to teach an old appraiser new tricks!
