The whole premise of tax the rich is based on the presumption that the rich have no alternative but to submit because they can't move. That presumption is currently being overtaken by events.

Water seeks its own level. Wealth seeks its own ROI. And WRT taxation and regulation is loyal only to opportunity, not locale.

Instead of Black Bart the PO8 robbing Wells-Fargo stagecoaches, it's the state. And they are done. NYC is finding out the same issues.

The trendy thing among the super rich is to relocate to Singapore and Dubai.

A lot easier to do business in the Sunshine State when all the billionaires are moving there.... kind of hard to chat somebody up with colorful drinks with umbrellas in them from California.
 
For decades, Wells Wealth Manager tried to get my funds. No need to pay them management fees. Just put into Index funds.
Wells decided to go to Florida where most retirees settle there. Florida is one no state income tax State I'm considering later in my life.
