I took the USPAP update class last fall and the instructor mentioned something about Ohio dropping the licensed residential classification. He mentioned it in the afternoon session of the class in a warm room and I was struggling to stay awake. I didn’t see anything on the Ohio Department of Commerce website regarding the removal of the licensed residential classification.
I don’t believe that is correct that Ohio is dropping the licensed classification. They have adopted the new testing and now require a back ground check with finger printing for all new applicants/upgrades. All of Ohio’s requirements have increased after 1/1/08. Only those that have completed either their education or their experience log in 2007 can qualify under the old educational/experience requirements, but must still take the new test.
I don't care what the point is or isn't - I just want to know if the following states issue licenses: AL, AR, AZ, KE, MA, ME MI, NH, NY, ND, TE, TX, WA, WV.
I'm just trying to avoid having to call each agency - I will if I have to.

Hi, well I am interested (which is why i asked) and since some states seemingly still allow you to become a licensed appraiser what is the benefit for that? What are the requirements for each level in ohio? Someone from ohio can probably help with that.
