Got this in the mail today...I wonder how far off Tony's "SreetLinks Comparable Opinion Report" (SCOR) is from a CVR aka "Comp Crusher"?

Special CompCruncher Weekend Training for San Francisco Bay Area Appraisers

Want to get trained on CompCruncher really fast? How does certification in one weekend sound? Attention all San Francisco Bay Area appraisers (or even if you are not from the Bay Area). We are pulling out all the stops to get you trained. We have a special in-house FastTrack CompCruncher Training in the works. Over one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) you can become fully certified.

Can I Make Money Providing CVR Reports?

This is a question appraisers always ask us before signing up for CVR Certification. The answer is yes. The demand for CVR reports is greater than our ability to supply them. If you are the first in your area to be certified, you will make money. We have certified appraisers who are doing 6-10 CVR per day. One appraiser did 8 CVRs in 4 hours. This was additional income on top of regular 1004 work.

Wow...fully trained and Certified in 2 days. So easy...a caveman could do it.

And a new race begins! Will "CVR appraisers" start fighting for volume and undercutting each other on fees?

Probably

When you're mass producing the same widgets as your competition price is the only variable. And at $35 a pop, there's not much cutting to do.

Streetlinks sent me a nice clipboard with their logo all over it. What a colossal waste of money. If Streetlinks and Tony wanted to show any sort of appreciation, they would pay more for their appraisals.

Maybe you should require more?

Maybe you should require more?

Well now - that says it all, doesn't it.....

If everyone required a fee commensurate with the work product, they'd have to pay more and shift the cost to the banks - where it belongs. Fannie, Freddie and the banks made this mess - it should be their responsibility to pay for it. NOT the responsibility of appraisers to cut their fees to support AMCs and their bonuses........but far too many do not treat this business as a business - OR a profession.

Lenders want an AVM with liablity. This is the perfect product. Also this will eliminate the need for a drive-by appraisal or a 2nd appraisal opinion. So there will be less appraisal work for the local appraiser.
