I have been reading some posts discussing the ludicrous things LOs ask for. Example: one poster said a LO called and asked if the appraiser would change the year built on a mfg home.

Has anyone thought of having an introductory phone answer greeting like all major Fortune 500 companies: Hello-You have reached Joe Blow Appraisal, Inc., your call may be taped for "quality assurance", a representative will be with you shortly.(?)

Reckon this would limit (notice I did not say stop) the stupid requests? If a person did tape calls, would be handy in defense of future lawsuits.

yvonne,
I have been thinking of this for a while, however, since I don't have a separate phone line (use the house phone and my cell) I haven't figured out a way to do it yet...working on it!

yvonne,

Great minds think alike, I suggested similar a procedure a while back. Although I don't record all the conversations, my Radio Shack setup allows me to only push one button to do so.

Usually I tell the LO that I don't understand what they're asking for. If I can't get them to put a silly or illegal request in writing, I notify them I just turned the recorder on and will ask them to repeat their request.

Stephen, I used to use a program called HotFax Call Center or something like that. It would accept data, fax and voice calls. It has the ability to forward calls from your home to your cell phone (a form of 3 way calling if I remember right) or any other number you may want it to direct it too. It will also call you when a fax arrives if you want. I think it is offered by Smith Micro for about $50.00

I use a program called CallSoft and I simple love it. Fax, Answering machine all in one. If you have caller ID you can assign messages to a phone number or name. I have a message just for solicitors! Never talk them anymore at home or at work. It has so many really slick options.

Anyway, I had a real jerk for a loan officer and was expecting more trouble from him. Checked CallSoft and it is a simple one button click to record a conversation. I was going to record him and send it the Bank Commission. But he didn't do what I thought.

I HIGHLY recommend Call Soft. By far the best software I have ever purchased. I think it is $29? Worth every penny!! Oh, I did have to buy a new modem for it but it was a Pine and only cost $12.

And in AL it is perfectly legal as long as at least one party knows they are being recorded. I learned that in a law suit I was involved in.
