HUD Reaches Groundbreaking Settlement with The Appraisal Foundation to Ensure Equal Opportunity in the Appraisal Profession

Under the terms of the Agreement, The Appraisal Foundation is required to establish a $1.22 million scholarship fund, which will be utilized to cover the cost of aspiring appraisers to attend Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) programs. The PAREA program is designed to provide an alternative pathway to fulfill the experience requirement to become a state licensed appraiser. The scholarships will cover the cost of the program, which will further encourage entry into the profession. The Agreement also includes terms for marketing the PAREA program and the scholarship fund to diverse communities as well as terms for evaluating the marketing’s effectiveness to those communities and persons of color aspiring to be appraisers. In addition, the Agreement includes terms for collaboration with state and territory appraiser regulatory agencies for PAREA’s adoption and credit towards the experience requirement for licensed appraisers.

what a clown show... :rof: :rof: :rof:

having done everthing in real estate, and with real estate, appraising looks so easy. but you have ro know everything about everythibg involved with real estate. classes will teach you how the form is filled out, but not how to get there. kinda reminds me of our current public schools. can't read, no math, or write but they graduated.
let the buybacks and board complaints begin.
that is if you believe that there will be any appraiser appraisals to do and learn from doing.

With mostly low appraisal fees, appraising is not a career for the future. Don't entice many into the field and invest their time and money if they think appraising is easy money. Those days are over.

Let's do the math. $1,220,000 / $2500 = 488 PAREA 'scholarship' appraisers.

"Jeff’s story is important to the appraisal professional and to everyone that cares about seizing opportunities in the face of injustice. Leading by example and by devoting time to raise up the next generation of diverse appraisers, I thank Jeff for his commitment to our profession and communities and for taking the time to share his story in this powerful “What I Value” video. I encourage our members to share it on social media and forward it to people interested in better understanding the profession and the ways appraisers work in our communities."

Fresh meat for corrupt AMCs to take advantage of.

If the current administration stays in, my guess is we’ll see all experience requirements dropped inside of 36 months. PAREA isn’t going to move the needle enough to change the profession’s demographics, and considering the supposed deal AI made to stop the dropping of experience requirements, PAREA is a failure. The AI will never ramp up PAREA to a point that thousands of minorities will not only enter the profession but stick around past their first renewal. PAREA is a total bust, last I heard only two have completed the courses since the Sept 23 launch. The only way in our lifetimes to get to the numbers those in DC want is to drop experience requirements.
