When was the last time you got paid a fortune to suck at your job? It’s not something you and I are used to. CEO’s, on the other hand, expect nothing less. Take Sanjay Jha, the executive responsible for turning around Motorola’s flagging cell phone division and spinning it off by 2010. If he does his job well and the division spins off, he gets $100 million plus three percent of the newly formed company. But if he fails, he has to make ends meet with a paltry $30 million.

Heads you win. Tails you win. It must be nice to be a CEO in the free world

Somehow I didn't get my job application in time....

The solution is simple. Executive bonuses should be taxed at 110% rate...watch 'em disappear.

So what? It's private enterprise paying him, not our tax dollars. I'd take that deal.

Isn't it great that this is one thing we can all agree upon. No Appraiser will ever have to worry how much they'll get when they destroy the appraisal profession.

Side Bar: I sold a business in 1995 before they lowered the capital gains tax, I became very aware of the tax system & the politics in this country from that time on.

Agreed. This is capitalism. You may not like it but unless you're a shareholder you've got no say in the matter. I don't know why these deals are made and why failure is so lavishly rewarded but that's the way it is. Beats the alternative where the government runs all the private enterprises.

You may yet get to see that scenario in your lifetime the way things are going.

Yes, it is nice. For those with the talent and the willingness to work the long hours, there are some very good days ahead. However, unlike a baseball player, there performance can greatly affect their income. Many of those with average to below average ability can't seem do much other than enjoy being jealous. :fiddle:

Think of what you just wrote after all these people take bailout funds of $25 BILLION each.

Happens in the public sector as well. Dallas ISD Superintendent makes a very good six-figure salary. This year, the ISD ended up $84MILLION in the hole. They decided to lay off staff and teachers. Couldn't even get that right. Laid off teachers who had been there, but kept teachers they imported from out of the country, and who they are paying a housing stipend to live here. Fired Americans and kept foreigners.

He still has his job.
