Just in case anyone is shopping for a cheap printer for that rare appraisal we have to print anymore. My old one bit the dust on a Tuesday night and I had to run to Wal-Mart to find a replacement pronto.

I bought the HP photosmart 7350 because it was cheap, color and was supposed to print photos well. (Wal-Mart also carried the color cartridges for it, unlike my old 1600C.)

I LOVE IT! It's 10 times faster than the old (MUCH more expensive) 1600C, the ink is cheaper, and the quality is awesome. It even tells you how much ink is left in your cartridge. (For color AND black.)

Go figure...I got better than what I paid for. :D

Only draw back is it will never last as long as your 1600.

Kathy,

Are the cartridges expensive?? Because from past experience with a friend who bought a photo printer..they're not the way to go....unless they have separate cartridges for each ink which I doubt the low end printers have...If you have a six color cartridge, plan on burning out the yellow tank way before the others and then throwing away the cartridge with the other inks still full.

Best to spend the extra money and get something with separate ink cartridges for each color.

Who cares if it only lasts a year or two at $200? I'll go get another one. They'll make a cheaper one by then. Heck, it'll probably make toast and tell you the time in Singapore.

The cartridges are two seperate units....color (3) and black. If you're into printing photos you can take out the color one and put in a "photo" one that does photos better.

I don't print much anymore except tax printouts and the occaisional appraisal for the die-hard lender without email. Maybe three or four residentials and a few commercials a month...and my first color cartridge is still going (it's been about a month). I did have to replace my black. But I ignored the machine when it said it was empty and printed with it another week or so.

The quality of photos is MUCH better than my old 1600, even without the photo cartridge.

It might not be good for a busy, multi-appraiser shop, but it's great for little old me!
