The End of *most* Full Time Appraiser's ?

Get online expand into private work, grind when work is slow doing what you need to do and put of better reports. Since I started using Synapse with 1 client in particular who has a wacky scoring system my work from them has tripled and they pay great. I have had an a shockingly good year so far and with the VA coming back it looks to be a good year here

However, there is money to be made for those who don't want to work in a glam spot,
I am anything but glam. However, I don't desire to make myself a crime victim target if I can help it.

I wouldn't even go there to rent a boat for Okeechobee.

The worst part is getting there a long drive through sugar cane fields, the leaves so high no light gets in down a narrow 2 lane road with huge trucks barrelling at you - I did two there and that was it. These towns are in far western Palm Beach County, an hour from Palm Beach Island ( and Mar a Lago) - but as I said, if an appriser was willing to work there they could make bank - the sourroung area is pretty and rural and one can live in western end of county and get there in a half hour.

The Sugar Cane fields are owned by the Fanjul family -

The commercial guys in my area mostly don't make good money anymore. That got extremely competitive and fees are lower than 25 years ago. What we paid in 1990 a $3,000 fee-- we can get a CG all day long for $1,000 to $1,500 bucks.

Commercial maybe in a specialized field but not for a independent fee guy in our community.
One of my mentors is a CG and this ^^^ rings true. At least here in CA. He mostly does private, high-end residential. He does some commercial stuff and an apartment building once in awhile. The fees for commercial data is just astronomical.

I don't know how he markets himself so, it could be his own fault. It sure doesn't seem to be the Silver Bullet he was hoping it to be.

For res , diverse properties and be willing to learn and do the hard /complex, very low to very high end properties - if you can problem solve for clients, they appreciate it.

No so much with specialists. Poultry farm appraisers are making around $5000 per assignment now. I'd say feedlots, feed mills, poultry hatchery facilities, cattle auctions, etc. would draw even more.

The Sugar Cane fields
In Louisiana, the cane fields are a pain. They burn the leaves off the cane then haul it out leaving thick muck on the paved roads literally turning them back into dirt roads. Lots of heavy equipment during harvest.
