Ah, my mentor has shown up in the back row of the audience.

To fill you in on what really set me off with this guy was when he drove over with the orginally "promised" late and unpaid check he was very rude to my wife. Now if you knew my wife she is the nicest person in the world and too good for the crap we put up with in this industry. Like I told my kids when they were starting to test the boundaries of adulthood in their early teens..."you can say whatever you think you might want to say to me, but...do not EVER and I mean EVER disrespect your mother, my wife". Guess this guy wasn't around for my speech to the kids. He spouted some rude crap to her, and my wife being who she is just smiled and took it all in without saying anything.

I was referring to the ongoing State of Wisconsin vs Ray Miller where some broker turned him in for NOT doing something dishonest.

I don't think the issues are really all that similar.

Frank, you probably screwed up. This is gonna get you talked about on the 'brokers outpost' or the 'grapevine'. It is possible you may not get any more orders from slugs like him.:rof::rof::rof::rof:

Way to go. JWD!!!!! (job well done)

Chalk up another one. My attitude with this from the beginning was to surround myself with GOOD PEOPLLE. Yes, that seems to be hard to find as the industry is riddled with cancerous individuals. There are good ones mixed in, "Diamonds in the rough". The good ones are men and women of good character with morals and ethics and we will do everything in our power to assist them. The others...someone else put it perfect..."TIMBER".

This week I had similar email exchanges on an FHA order. These guys jumped on the FHA wagon because it was the only thing rolling but their tactics are still the same old sleaze.

Im sorry ... I have read all the letters and between HIS "youve got to be kidding me" and the next letter you wrote .. you went way off the deep end.
No matter how unprofessional he may get, your response to him was the most unprofessional of all.
These letters do not paint you in a good light Frank.

At this point I think he has a very good case, should you complete the rental survey, that you are not unbiased toward him. The leap you took with this person is simply unbelievable. Actually as the emails progress .. his become less confrontational and yours get more so.

Im sure I will get criticism from this but your lack of professionalism is really astounding ... and yours sould not be dictated by his.

PropertyEconomics beat me to the punch. As I read through the thread I was thinking how I would have handled this situation. Unless something "beneath the surface" is involved I think the whole email string was unprofessional on both sides. Way too much emotion involved. Need to keep replies short, clinical and to the point.

I would be scared to death of having this email string go to my state board. Way too much 'spaining to do.

I thought telling a client to take a hike was a business decision not controled by USPAP and the State Board. I have dealt with fixed rate funding before and these guys are the worst of the worst.

Unfortunately there is an appraisal involved in this and that is where the state board may come in to play. I dont honestly know.
I would certainly hope you dont agree that the langauge and the tone of the appraisers emails were proper. If we want to be a profession we have to act professionally. There were much better ways of handling this issue which is my point.

Less Than Perfect

Sorry some of you never had a bad day and live such perfect lives. You are all entitled to your opinions and I am sure some will agree and some will not. I know for fact that many would have taken this alot further than I did under the circumstances. Plus reading a post on the internet always leaves room for enterpretation, which might or not be in the context of how it was originally written.

Yes, I am sure it could have been handled many different ways. The emails are only half of the story. The abusive phone calls and the foul language to me and my wife which are not posted are another.

The point was that I was not going to be bullied like many appraisers are. I stand by everything I have done. I never said I wouldn't complete the assignemnt. I just wasn't about to do it COD like many others. Howdever, no way in the world was I going to settle for a lesser fee and not be paid up front, especially with this guy who already flat out lied several times to both myself and my wife and I will not tolerate that..you may. That is your right, just like you have an opinion.

But thank you for sharing. We can all learn from any situation and next I will probably handle it different...but no promises. Sorry again for being less than perfect.
