The NAR BPO Certification Designation

They quote: "The course is intended to give REALTORS® the knowledge and skills they need to reduce risk and help them create professional and accurate BPOs. The BPO Resource certification explores the multiple uses of BPOs, how they can and cannot be used, and how to filter and select comparables to create expert and precise BPOs." Isn't a "precise BPO" oxymoronic?

I'm thinking since R.E. agents use their sales license to value properties, I will go start using my appraisal certification to start selling properties. The NAR is legitimizing BPO's and the NAR is assisting in the RPM (Realtor assisted AVM). The NAR hates you

In many states it is perfectly legitimate for brokers to do appraisals. Why is it a problem for NAR to offer education and resources for those members performing legitimate work?

In order to get MLS info in my area, the Greenville Board of Realtors require Me and my company to join the Board. In addition to MLS fees. I have to pay all member fees and dues fulfill all of the member requirements including orientation and an ethics class. However, I am not allowed to have a listing in the MLS (even my own home) because I do not have a real estate license. My money helps fund these BPO classes and other resources that are meaningless to me.

Salesmen always find better results when they're not second guessed by non-interested parties.

Somebody hates appraisers. Weather it's everyone or just most people, that remains to be determined.

In many states it is completely illegal for Brokers/Agents to do appraisals. Why is it not a problem that the NAR offers education and resources for their members to perform illegal work?

Get over it.

Because NAR is a national organization. The state level organizations are there to adjust the offering to fit local laws.

It is much like plastic grocery bags. Just because they are illegal in Los Angeles does not mean Safeway should stop using them nationwide.

You want to make BPOs illegal nationwide? Knock yourself out with the campaign but it is not reasonable to pretend the campaign is already won or to expect other to act as though the campaign is already won.
