The Park Fire is already larger than the Camp Fire. It is a huge fire and entirely "climate change" caused by man... To be exact, a 2 time felon set fire to his mother's car and pushed it into a ravine. He has been arrested. After two years of rain that has built a lot of undergrowth, and, of course, no logging because of the Spotted Owl...well, a conflagration is a given at some point.
This is the nonsense of claiming increased forest fires due to 'climate change'. California has a dry climate. That's why people live there. But if you have unfettered construction in areas where you have to run electric powerlines, you increase the risk. And arsonists are a high percentage of fire starters.
But total failure to manage the forests properly, to stop all logging because of the Spotted Owl - the same owl being "protected" from interbreeding by Barred Owls by killing 500,000 such owls...Well, it strikes me that such closely related owls are simply variations within the same species - no different from the 13 subspecies of the 2 species of bobcat. Do we kill the Southern Bobcat to keep it from interbreeding with a Northern or Western one?
The forests need managed. Nature used to manage them. Now, man has intervened and took a hands off management that will not work. Eventually nature takes back over and overwhelms the puny efforts of humans.
