You don't buy cars by the pound, and you don't appraise houses by the square foot.

That always drives me crazy when everybody wants to just break it down to $/ft..............................

Larry, I will disagree with you. Subconsciously people do buy homes by the SF. They know when they look at house C that the kitchen is bigger than houses A and B; they know when the bedrooms are bigger and smaller.

$/SF is an indicator but not the end all be all; obviously other factors need to be considered.

I see your point, and can say that farmers don't necessarily buy vacant land looking only at $/acre....they look at size mostly when all things are equal with other available properties, however they look at productivity also.

Ignoring $/SF would be negligent in that it is a value indicator.
