The Price of Eggs in China

The idea of an egg shortage is making people buy more eggs. Reminds me of the toilet paper shortage during Covid.
At Costco, I couldn't believe people buying so much eggs in their carts. Usually runs out by end of day.
I got too many eggs in my fridge. Forced myself to eat 2 eggs yesterday and 2 today before expiration date.
Ugh..and I'm not usually an egg eater.

Except you can't hoard a 2-year supply of eggs like you can toilet paper. If people are buying multiple times their normal amount eventually, they're not going to buy them the next time they go to the store because they have several dozen in the fridge at home already. Over a period of weeks and months it's going to balance out unless people are actually consuming more eggs (or throwing them away when they go bad). Basic economics would tell us that as the price rises due to insufficient supply then demand will eventually fall.

When egg prices escalate many producers of food products requiring eggs in the recipe go to work in the test kitchen.

It has been many years ago we had an "egg shortage". During that time, and the time since, the "Betty Crockers" and Duncan Hines" of the world reformulated their recipes.

They eliminate the number of eggs required for their recipes, assisting in the reduction of egg demand, and never looked back.

Yeah its started out here almost no eggs today shelf's were empty accpet the High End ones ta $8.99 a Dozen. The crap I purchased was $5.99 -So $6 Bucks and they suck. BUT whats more scary is prices on lots of other stuff is again rising rapidly. Looks like another food inflation run hit us :)

All according to plan.

Y'all just go to Costco early and buy 2 dozen eggs for $6.49. It's cheap. No more complaining.

Stop going so late or in the weekends. If you go earlier in the weekday, I never had a problem with parking.
Fewest people is near closing time. Also, I buy most of my wine there.
