our grocery was in 18 egg carton - out of dozens except the free range organic ($9) and I paid $8.45 for 18. Lest you forget we have some huge national egg chains here and lots of poultry. Cal-Maine for one (California-Maine if you miss the connection)

I tried raising eggs from grass fed chickens but they were too stoned to lay.

just bought a crispy creme donut. boy, has that gotten smaller, pretty soon it will be called a donut bit. i do eat free range eggs, higher quality. i don't think we need to abuse animals to keep the cost low.

Are you sure you didn't buy a donut hole. Krispy creme donut when freshly hot is so good especially with coffee.
I remembered I went there in 2020 to get my free donut (promotion if vaccinated) with my daughter. I showed my daughter's vaccination card and got a free donut. Yummy.
Then later when we were going to fly out for vacation, I couldn't find her vaccination card. I think I lost it when I got that free donut. Didn't tell me wife that.
It was a hassle getting another vaccination card.

In the Netherlands, farmers have been protesting, and in response the cops were shooting at them. They have now bought a tank and intend to take on the police again. They are going to shut down 3,000 farms and the farmers are outraged. It is a land grab apparently. If food shortages happen, then the country will be in total turmoil.

The egg and chicken shortage is impacted by the outbreak of avian flu. So far about 60 million birds have either died from it or the flocks contaminated were slaughtered and buried or incinerated. Egg producers were most affected. Started in California apparently from migratory birds.
