These are the Morons Who are Running Climate with Our Government

WSJ 5/10/24:

Biden to Quadruple Tariffs on Chinese EVs

Administration is preparing to announce higher levies on a range of Chinese goods next week

WASHINGTON—The Biden administration is preparing to raise tariffs on clean-energy goods from China in the coming days, with the levy on Chinese electric vehicles set to roughly quadruple, according to people familiar with the matter.

Higher tariffs, which Biden administration officials are preparing to announce on Tuesday, will also hit critical minerals, solar goods and batteries sourced from China, according to the people. The decision comes at the end of a yearslong review of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump on roughly $300 billion in goods from China.

OPEC Chief says oil is here for a long time more and trying to discourage investment will lead to climate chaos. A bunch of solar panels and wind turbines are not going to replace oil. And were will we get plastics? Lubricants? Etc. It is stupid policy. Meanwhile a climate protester got 2 years probation, will have to do a weeks worth of graffiti clean up and serve 60 days in jail. She should have gotten the whole 2 years in jail.
It is idiotic to say we are going to shut down all coal fired plants, when, in fact, China and India are not and are the largest coal consumers in the world, Russia could care less what they think, and often these are countries with less stringent pollution controls. Now the G7 claims they will let Germany and Japan slide past the 2035 deadline. So, what industrial country is left? The good old USA...no one else of any consequence. Once again we shoot ourselves in the foot then congratulate the world for being so wise....idiots. And the idea we can predict the future rise in temperature accurately is a fool's game, especially if based upon CO2 models. Some alarmists realize that the CO2 narrative is falling apart so now you see more and more BS spewed about methane...yep, it's easier to demonize that evil natural gas even when the bulk of it is natural, not man-made.

The G7 group of the world’s most industrialized nations is set to announce later on Tuesday a pledge to phase out coal-fired power generation by 2035 but could include some leeway to Germany and Japan, Reuters reports, citing diplomatic sources.
The energy, climate, and environment ministers of the G7 nations – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States – are meeting between Sunday and Tuesday at a palace near Turin to discuss ways to address climate change. Phasing out coal-fired electricity is top of the agenda, and a tentative agreement has been reportedly reached. The ministers agreed on Monday on phasing out coal-fired electricity between 2030 and 2035, and are expected to announce it officially later on Tuesday, Reuters’s sources said.

However, Germany and Japan could be given more time to shut down coal-fired power generation by including in the final communique wording that G7 countries could pick a date to exit coal that is consistent with keeping a limit of 1.5 C global temperature rise within reach, according to Reuters’s sources.
Terrel, I know you're tired of hearing me say this, but it doesn't have to make sense.

I use to watch the turbine blades go up the Columbia River on barges....they are huge. I remember telling my father-in-law that when they return to China they'll be filled with US dollars. Not a good investment.

I bet you never thought of all the insects that wind turbines kill:

"There are approximately 70,000 wind turbines in the United States as of 2022. As of 2016, there were 341,000 on the planet, according to the Global Wind Energy Council. Assuming that each wind turbine on the planet averages 40 million insect deaths annually, as in Germany, this would equate to approximately 2,800,000,000,000 (2.8 quadrillion) annual insect deaths attributable to wind turbines in the United States alone. As for the planet, this would equate to 13,640,000,000,000 (13.64 quadrillion) insect deaths attributable to wind turbines per year. And, the latter number is based upon 2016’s global wind turbine count, which has almost certainly significantly increased in the past six years."

Any bets on how long it will take for some green moron to blame the recent unusual northern lights on climate change?

Too late - the claim is already made that "climate change" impacts the northern lights although they are clearly a solar phenomenon. I've heard for 60 years that if the magnetic poles reverse, humanity will be sent into chaos, that we are overdue that reversal, and the entire electrical grid will fail.

If anyone thinks that science in the past 40-50 years has degenerated, doesn't understand why people don't believe in basic science, and say things like "radon is 'natural' radiation so not harmful', then go no further than the slate of pseudo-science "pop" magazines like Nature, Scientific American, Popular Science, and any host of similar magazines routinely quoted by MSM, to source this mindless piffle. No wonder people enjoy Ancient Aliens and other junk science. The more subtle of them like Graham Hancock mix a host of facts with wildly radical interpretations without support and much more believable than say Flat earth or Atlantis.

Carbon dioxide does not cause climate change

No gas causes warming

Temperature is an indication of the speed at which atoms and molecules are moving
. Academia has forgotten or skipped over this first tenet of gas physics, presumably to chase the $22 billion per year in funding to study global warming.

When mercury in a thermometer is exposed to heat, the mercury atoms accelerate. They collide, increasing friction and temperature. This causes the mercury to expand, and the added force pushes it up the thermometer. When the sun goes down, the atoms slow, the friction and force lessen, and the mercury falls. The mercury atoms do not migrate elsewhere; they simply slow down.

This happens because we live in a gravitational field. Kinetic energy (motion) is destroyed by gravity, another tenet of gas physics that has been ignored. Any migration of energy ends abruptly like the spark from a flame or sand under a rolling baseball. Atoms and molecules are densely packed in our atmosphere.

Do gases retain some trace amount of temperature from day to day?

To answer this, we charted actual atmosphere temperature drops. High and low temperatures were recorded from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website. It provides a high for the day, and a low the next morning.

The temperature drops were for locations throughout the country. A typical drop in summer was from 80 to 58 degrees Fahrenheit. The size of the drops varied.

However, the average drop for 15 samples or more was notably consistent at 22 degrees. Temperature drops were recorded throughout winter down to highs in the 20s. Similarly, temperature drops in winter also averaged 22 degrees.

This proves that temperatures drop at a steady rate when the sun is down. The resulting temperature-drop chart indicates that, if the sun never came up, the Earth would be a frozen ball of ice in less than 48 hours (dropping 22 degrees every 12 hours). That proves that temperature is not trapped or retained from day to day (global warming). Any prolonged warming is caused by the sun.

It further proves that no gas — not carbon dioxide, methane, or even humid atmospheric air — retains temperature from day to day.

Make no mistake. This is a true scientific test because it observes actual measurements of the atmosphere. Any high school class can repeat these observations over a school year.

The question we should be asking is, “Why doesn’t carbon dioxide cause warming?” That leads to the proper scientific approach: Measure it.

The scientific proof is easily grasped. We tested carbon dioxide’s ability to trap or retain heat. It cools 22 F in 3 minutes and 45 seconds. It cannot possibly retain heat and certainly not do so from day to day.

To naysayers, how about proving your theory? Try to get carbon dioxide to retain temperature from day to day. Or better yet, perform our test for yourself.

The argument that climate change impacts the Northern Lights is speculative. It's based on the idea that climate changes, operating over extremely long time scales, could somehow affect the molten iron of the Earth's core, namely:

  1. Ice Sheet Changes and Pressure Redistribution: Large-scale melting of ice sheets due to global warming leads to significant redistribution of mass on the Earth's surface. This redistribution of weight can potentially influence mantle convection, a slow but steady flow of rock within the mantle that can affect tectonic movements and, theoretically, the dynamics at the core-mantle boundary. This might slightly influence the geodynamo, the mechanism by which the Earth generates its magnetic field, although such effects would be extremely slow and subtle.

  2. Sea Level Rise and Sediment Redistribution: Similarly, rising sea levels change the distribution of water and sediment, potentially affecting the pressure on tectonic plates and indirectly influencing mantle dynamics. Again, any impact on the core would be very indirect and would play out over long geological timescales.

  3. Changes in Earth's Rotation: Melting ice and redistribution of water mass could also affect the Earth's rotation slightly, as the distribution of mass affects the planet's moment of inertia. Changes in rotation speed and axis could theoretically affect the dynamics of the outer core by changing the Coriolis force, which influences the flow patterns of the molten iron and nickel. However, these effects are expected to be minor.

0therwise, the current activity is just routine periodic intensity:
