The cost of EV will likely only go up. I can see that many people who can currently afford used gas car vehicles will, in the future, quite possibly (probably?) not be able to afford EV vehicles. They will have to rely on public transportation. Who knows for sure, but that is my rough guess. Or more to the point, arguing with goverment officials that EV vehicles don't really reduce CO2 emissions is a waste of time. They are thinking long-term. They want you on public transportation.
- And that is the true long-term goal.
But the unfortunate fact is that the climate is getting warmer, and alarmingly so. You can argue that the differences are minor, but over time they add up and rather minor changes can have dramatic effects. And yes, there are ups and downs, La Nina's and El Nino's - but the trend is frightening if you are a long-term thinker.
Of course, on this forum, we have some notable short-term thinkers.
So, it WILL be mass transportation for many, especially seniors trying to survive on retirement income.
Instead of having the government follow your vehicle everywhere with ubiquitous traffic cameras, you will just have to worry about getting mugged on some bus, subway or train - or in any case having to sit next to some obnoxious person.
