Save yourself $70 dollars and get a fatmax tlm 200 for $229 instead of the Disto A3 for $299. I get really upset now when someone borrows my laser measure and I have to use a tape measure. I don't know how I would do without it.

Bradford Technologies (800-622-8727) is having a clearance sale on some hardware that includes $329 for a Leica DISTO™ Plus with 4 in stock. There are other bargains too. It is an "All Sales Are Final" no returns kind of thing, but that is to be expected with a clearance sale. They are only asking $800 for the one Motion LE 1600 Tablet PC they have available for sale.

I am not in connected to Bradford in any way except as a satisfied customer. Just thought I would share the information from the email they just sent me.

Does FatMaX have a scope?
Nope but my red dot is a whole lot brighter with the Fatmax than my Disto's red dot...and larger I think. Frankly, Fatmax is so much quicker that I don't use the Disto unless I am needing to use the Pythagorean function.

go Disto, worth the bucks

Get a disto with the scope it will make your life easier on long measurements or in bright light. I have the A5 and it is the best money I've spent on a gadget ever and I have a lot of gadgets. Also Appraiserdepot.com is the place to buy it.

Terrel,

We sell all of the FatMax products and have compared them extensively to the DISTO's. The laser dots are the same size and brightness.

If your DISTO's dot looks smaller or less bright, clean the optics with some rubbing alcohol. If the optics are dirty, it will affect the appearance of the dot. It can also delay the speed at which you receive a measurement and limit your measuring distance.

Matt:

Maybe he is comparing the dot of an old DISTO???

Greg:

That sounds like an excellent buy on the Motion. I'd make sure, however, that it has the indoor/outdoor screen if that is important to the prospective purchaser.

On the particular DISTO™ Plus devices mentioned, I would definitely be wary, though - not all DISTO Plus models that "secondary resellers" have are fully compliant with the Bluetooth stuff. This may not be a factor for the purchaser unless they plan on using the Bluetooth capabilities of the Plus with MobileSketch. Of course, if they are NOT interested in that, why buy a Plus? - They'd be better off with an A5 than an old Plus. Personally, I'd be very wary of purchasing a DISTO from someone that indicates that there are no returns - I'd expect all functions to work before shelling out any money. Maybe I read the post wrong, but that sort of service equals NO DEAL in my book. We see post after post from appraisers raving about Matt's service and aren't we all tired of poor service? I am NOT saying BT gives poor service - I am just advising that a prospective purchaser really check things out before buying something that they are counting on working right. If Bradford can answer the purchaser's questions to their satisfaction on full and proper functionality, then great, it's a deal. I also know that you are not promoting the deal - that you are just being helpful in passing along what might be a good deal for the members here, so your intentions are most appreciated... :-)

I have the Disto and couldn't recommend it more highly. The scope feature is really great. Of course, you can buy one without the scope, and buy some of those really cool looking red glasses to help you see the red dot on a bright day! The chicks love them!!:rof:
