The HOA sent me a violation notice because I don't have a white curtain hanging in the window of the storage room in my rental condo.

I don't have a window in my storage room. Should I put in a window?

I think the HOA has become more common, as the building methods have become more dense.

The HOA dialogue brings to mind, a historical Quote. Jefferson; When we are piled on top of each other in great cities, we will become corrupt like the europeans.

Specifically on land use, and social interactions. Good read.

If more of us remembered our roots, we probably would not be so quick to judge and penalize. The hoa seeks to wear a crown, and rule the subjects. Never did like that setup.

So I say if you're a good salesperson, you make sure to furnish the hoa docs before even signing a contract. If possible, steer your clients away from such setups. HOA dues are just dollars that fly out the window.

Recently did an REO where the HOA had foreclosed for +/-$3500 in unpaid dues. +/-$100k house.

Volunteering control of property rights to your neighbors is probably not a good idea, or investment.

Not a fan of HOA or Condo Associations..I have enough authority figures in my life...For the record, I have the neatest home on bock.

My close friend moved into a large condo development in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. I went to visit and asked him why there were numerous scooters locked up outside the front gate. Tuns out the association does not allow scooters on the property...The result is an unsightly entrance with scooters parked along the outside boundary of the entry. LOL

The particular HOA I mentioned before had historically been lax in enforcement and had hundreds of thousands if not in the M range of unpaid HOA fees and water bills (community water with a minimum fee even if no water tap in place or water usage). The community wells were running dry and/or poor quality water and the subdivision roads were going to hell in a hndbasket. They decided to drop the hammer and have foreclosed on hundreds of properties (+/-5000 in the subdivision, many undevloped). I just wish I had been playing close enough attention to upset the $3500 bid on a $100k property. Apparently, there are/were so many that I was not the only one that missed it.
