No Rex, it does not.

Not around here anyways. Hinkenlooper is on and on about new corporate jobs and such.

Good news I guess for the powers that be. I'd rather have seen a sustained economic slowdown. Not here though. It's banging banging with new opportunity.

Thereby making CO discount appraisers to be an exceptionally stupid lot of dullards that cannot see what's clearly right in front of them.

Just wait until Obamacare turns the Medical fields into the equivalent of the AMC model, and you can go to Physician and Dentist forum sites and see them ask the same questions Delta is asking here.:new_smile-l:

No one is going to get a bachelor's to become an appraiser. They may already have one and decide to become an appraiser, but still.....

My state already does background checks, so no biggie. What's the beef with the new rules? Other than convincing people to not get in this business, we still have plenty of appraisers from the 2000s boom. At least for residential.

How's this for sick? I already AM an appraiser, and 4 yrs ago, I decided to get my bachelor's degree just so that I could keep up with increasing standards and not be thought of as "sub par" compared to a noob.

So, maybe what you will see is some large appraisal firm at a job fair at the local university trying to offer low paid internships while the kids finish school.

I don't think its that appraisal is that much different than alot of other professions in a crappy economy. I did an appraisal on a local Dentists house yesterday. We talked for about an hour after I finished my measurements etc. He said his business was way off, down from a staff of 8 on '08 to a single assistant and a receptionist, and one of them was on a short fuse if things don't improve. He indicated that he could be booked solid if he would take medicaid patients @ 30 cents on the dollar. He also indicated an over supply of dentists willing to take the low fee stuff. Sounds vaguely familiar, huh?

My wife works in a dentists office as an assistant. She never graduated college. It's not the best job but at least she knows if she gets laid off she can collect unemployment benefits and in the meantime she gets a steady weekly check, vacation and sick time and holidays paid, and she does not have to cover any expenses, take CE mandatory classes, pay to renew a license every year, carry e/o, etc.

Sometimes I wonder who has the better gig, her or me.

Oh I forgot to mention that the Dentist was paying all of his employee's insurance in 08, cut back to a portion after Obamacare was passed in '10 as insurance rates went up in response, and now his 2 remaining employees are on their own insurance wise.

That's the only thing my wifes employment package does not offer, health benefits. We're struggling with that right now.
