I'm running into more problems with add on software and other applications not wanting to talk to MS Office 2000 and was thinking about upgrading to either 2002 or 2003. Does anyone have any opinions? I've played with Open Office but don't like the look and it also has problems talking to some of my other software. I absolutely don't want to move to Office Vista, too slow and too weird.

I am using Office Vista, or 2007 what ever you want to call it and it works great for me. Other htan looking weird I got used to that but I think you can set it to look like the other versions, It seems to be very quick. Could also be my computer I am running a quad core machine

Ted,
I was using Office XP pro up unitl last year. I then got a new machine and have Office 2007 on it. It works great and looks better (True type.) It does however take a little bit to get use to the new look and feel but it works a lot better. All the types of reports I do are narrative - I do commercial reports. My supervisor runs office 2007 on his XP pro machine. and He loves it. I have Vista. I cant get him to upgrade which is fine. Good luck.

My wifes office uses Office Vista aka 2007 and it is slow and a pain because it can't read documents created with Office 2000. Most of the reviews I've seen indicate that Office 2007 is about 20% slower than the older versions of Office. I have a couple of thousand old documents that I don't want to lose or have to convert.

Also a reminder that Dell will still configure a new computer with XP until June 15th.

Does anyone know what the oldest version of Office is that will work with Vista?

I would move up to 2003 from 2000 especially if I could get a good deal on buying the
program. 2002 will work, if it is a better buy.

I am running Office 97 with Vista.:new_smile-l:
I absolutely HATE how MS has sliced, diced, re-packaged, subtracted applications from, the Office full suite. The prices? I don't mind paying for good software, but they are over the top, imnsho.
I am slowly but surely moving to OpenOffice.
