Upgrade to Windows 11

I don't know why my PC is not compatible with 11. It's Intel i7 with 32 gb ram, 2-1tb ssds and a rog strix.
I think, if memory serves, the i7 has to be greater than a 7700 series.

It's your processor. Anything below 8th generation is not compatible with Windows 11.

Like you, I have a very nice i7, High gigs of RAM, ssd, in my perfectly fine desktop however, it is a 7th generation Intel processor. So, Microsoft expected me to throw it in the landfill.

I went to Fiverr and had a computer tech install Windows 11 on mine and it works great. No need for it to go into the landfill.

Several Freelancers do it. Here's a sample.

But why do we need to install 11?

As of October this year, you'll have to pay for security updates for Windows 10. And, you have to pay "annually". That's "if" your computer meets their criteria to continue to receive the updates ( sound familiar?)

So for me, it was a no-brainer. I paid 25 bucks to a certified Microsoft tech off Fiverr to back door windows 11 on my supposedly non-upgradable PC. Now I get security updates for free.

Eff Microsoft and their scam to have millions of users throw away their PC's and buy new ones.... your computer is perfectly fine.

I don't think those updates matter. I have been using 7 all this time without any security issues.

You may be right. Supposedly, hackers are actively scanning for unpatched systems like yours.

That said, I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to scam its customers with scare tactics.

I do all my financials on my PC so, I get the security updates.....

If you just run windows update which your computer probably does, it will tell you if it is compatible. They are saying even if you force install it and the hardware is not compatible, the microsoft probably won't support it and it may not update.

If you buy a new computer with windows 11 already installed like at a Best Buy or many computer stores like that, you can take your machine into them and they will transfer all your files to the new machine. If you time it right, they can do it in a day.

Or you can transfer them yourself pretty easy if you are on like a secure network like your home wifi or you can do it with a direct cable or you can back it all up on external hard drive and plug the external drive into the new machine and transfer all you files and data.

I have nice new one that I will have to transfer. I have already transferred my files and data to it using an external hard drive but I am still using this old windows 10 machine. It has been a good one. A guy custom built it a long time ago. It was built before the new processors and graphic cards came out that support windows 11.

It is still fast. 3GHZ processor, 8 GB RAM, Good graphics card, 64 bit operating system, but I think it is the processor and the graphics card that are making it incompatible. I could force install it but I am not going to try it.

When they stop doing security updates on it, it just won't be able to be connected to internet due to security issues. I'll make it where it won't connect.

you will probably have like touch screen on your new one too and it will come with a warranty and you can buy extended warranty.

Zoe..... the whole idea is "not" to buy another computer because everyone's computers are perfectly fine. We have them set up the way we want.... we don't want to set up a new computer "just because" Microsoft wants us to buy new computers. Eff them...

Even with Window 11, I have problems running AF. Have to go to Chrome.

It is frustrating and it costs money I don't have. I don't even have a camera or speaker on the computer I work on currently. I have a laptop and cell phone and another desktop that I will switch too. I don't have an IPAD . The laptop and other desktop are on windows 11.

Like when I do online classes, I have to do them on the other computers because they have camera and speakers built in. Both have touch screens.

The other desktop is an all in one too which is nice. It takes up less room on a desk although the screen is way bigger. The whole computer is in the screen.
