They will only let you do it for a certain time. When I left, my E&O would grant tail insurance for 3-years. Not adequate IMO but all they offer.
 
IMO.....

State regulatory agency has no authority over the appraiser.

If person filing the complaint wants to proceed further, it would have to become a civil suit.

If it was serious enough, the regulatory agency might forward the complaint and file to the AG for some type of criminal prosecution.
